Hi all!
First off I want to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone out there! I hope all of you can spend a little time this week eating good food and contemplating things that you can be thankful for. I also need to give an update on the status of the project.
But before that, I really want to throw a very strong THANKS out to Kailef who has been a bedrock of reliability and a colossal help to this project, managing the boards and helping everyone out with the Beta. Seriously - this guy is a superhero in my book! I owe him a huge beer.
Now, I know it's been a while since I've made an update, and it's long overdue. Obviously, I have not been around here much since the summer. As many of you know from previous posts on the forums, I spent 6 weeks overseas during the summer at an archeological dig and bopping around various counties. This was a phenomenal experience - some of the best weeks of my life!
However, within 24 hours of my return home I encountered a devastating family crisis, flinging me from the high end of the emotional spectrum to the abysmal depths. I won't go into details publicly, but this crisis is still ongoing and has caused tremendous upheaval in my life, forcing me to work additional hours at my multiple jobs and to become emotionally/mentally drained to the point I lost touch with many elements of my life, such as the Sundog project.
During this time, Wai has become burdened by his work and family obligations, and so between me being AWOL and his obligations, forward momentum on Sundog has temporarily stalled. Right now, we have a version with some fixes and new features (such as a wide array of wicked cool new weapons) but the build is buggy so we cannot release it just yet. I'm going to get back into the Sundog project and look at options to move us forward, so hang tight. The important message is that the project isn't forgotten or dead - it's just in another cryogenic hibernation phase, and development will continue once things settle.
So hopefully this helps paint the picture of where we are presently at. I'm going to try to get involved in the Sundog forums more often in the future, but I apologize in advance if I'm still AWOL much of the time. So stay tuned!
Thanks and again, Happy Thanksgiving!
