Probably one of the most common questions we get asked is: WHAT ARE SUNSUNS?!
So, to help put your troubled minds at ease and to tease you a bit, I will post a sneak-peak at the SUNSUNS stock description, as taken from the SDR stock description list. This list will be used either in-game (accessed from your ship's computer) or will be in the user documentation.
So, without further delay...
SUNSUNS:
The dawn of the modern technological age exponentially increased power consumption and demand, often testing the power generation limits first-world planets and exceeding those of the scattered colonies.
To match the demand, scientists on Glory I developed a far superior form of inertial confinement fusion that generated nuclear fusion power on vastly greater scales than ever before achieved. A spherical array of finely-tuned lasers blast a suspended fuel pellet within the confinement core, causing the pellet’s outer layer to explode. The explosion compresses and heats the pellet beyond critical and a runaway fusion chain-reaction ignites the rest of the pellet and, for a brief time, forms a tiny "sun" within the confinement core. The energy released by the microfusion far exceeds the power required to trigger the explosion.
Inertial confinement generators have been so successful that they are found in any part of the Drahew Region and can be economically viable for both small and large energy production systems. The consumable fuel pellets, each a spherical alloy of exotic metals, are affectionately known to the public as "sunsuns."
