Subscribed to the YouTube page. I like the new graphics for the city maps and cockpit. I guess that the members here will get first crack at evaluating the Beta release....

Looking awesome! Is there any updated ETA? Granted I(we)'ve been waiting for so many years (decades)!

Ha yes that is the YouTube page that I set up to release training videos on. At this time, however, I am not sure how many videos will be "officially" released there, as I am leaning more towards a printed manual which can be edited and expanded easier as well as better for non-English speakers to translate and understand. Also, the game has been upgraded since those videos were taken and so there are some visual changes that make those videos somewhat out of date.
Another quick update: I am currently working on designing the cover art for the game, which is an homage to the original game cover artwork. This is taking some time, as it is a very detailed graphic with lots of elements. Some parts are totally digital creations while other parts (like parts of the cryogen chamber and the entire pirate ship which is shooing at the Sundog) are actually physical models that I built in my fire company's machine shop, posed against a green screen, then photographed and edited.
I am also re-writing the backstory for Sundog. If you remember the original game manual, there was a prologue that followed Zed as he landed in Drahew and took possession of the Sundog. I've taken that original prologue and expanded it a little, re-writing vast sections to match the current game a bit more and to improve the drama and style.
As for time, I cannot say for certain yet. We are still working on some crucial last minute fixes and improvements. It will be soon though! All major elements of the game are in place, it's fully playable, and we're just tying up some loose ends. I will post something as soon as we finalize plans to release a beta.

Great Work Jake. I am (unofficially) covering your progress, at SpaceSim Central. (http://spacesimcentral.com/ssc/topic/2021-sundog-request-from-wayne-holder/page-2). I always wanted to play Sundog, since I was frustrated, that there was no Amiga version. (Thanks to emulation I gave it a try, many years later).

Cool, thanks for keeping everyone over there up to date! It's good to see people are still very interested after all these years!
I just got the latest build yesterday that added a number of features and fixes, and another one with fully revamped character animations will be following soon. I'll keep posting updates when I can get to it - darn 75-hour work schedule spread across three jobs is not very forgiving... and that's not counting my volunteer jobs and working on my farm! Augh.

RE: Hotels, I had an idea. Similar to how you are approached randomly in a bar and offered to buy something, maybe a hotel has a similar (but different) random encounter? Something like:
You check into your room and ---(a) Nothing happens or ---(b) Someone arrives at your door with ------(i) Information on a location of a special item (maybe something only unlocked from a hotel encounter?) ------(ii) Information on where to buy/sell at different rates than the standard local site (could lead to good exchange rates/run-ins with gangsters/etc) ------(iii) Offer to upgrade ship (work could be of random lo/hi quality) ------(iv) Sorry, wrong room (or other "non-event" language). This would be the default.
Seems like this keeps in the spirit of Sundog, and may encourage at least a night or two in the hotel. Each planet could have it's own wares/risks ONLY available at the hotel.
Like everyone here, LONG-TIME Sundog player. From my Atari ST (where I played the original for what seemed like forever), to my new Dell (where I've played Sundog on an emulator start-finish all over again). LOVE this game. So excited to see the new. Hope it keeps the same "feel" to it...

I just was checking the Sundog Resurrection YouTube page for new updates and except for a few mentions here I don't think that there has been a hotlink posted. So here it is folks......Subscribe and lets jack up that poor old 7 subscribers numbers. Sundog Resurrection YouTube PagePS Jake I noticed a color change when you switched the header pic. The hotlinks are all black now and don't stand out, could you fix that?

Alright, sorry for the period of deafening silence. Again, things got busy so I neglected to keep up with dropping news scraps for ya all (thanks for the french fries, Mackie!). However, work continued to progress! Here's where we are at: I have put more work into the printed/digital written materials and they are nearing completion, including artwork, which if I might be so humble to suggest, is pretty slick. I'm also doing more bug checking. Wai has put lots of time into under-the-hood issues, like memory leaks and making the game more stable. We have also put together (or are working on right now) some new storyline elements and features, such as new dialog conversation elements in bars. Players of the original game will remember one of the dialogue options for some conversations was to "threaten" the NPC. So... what happens if you sit down at an occupied bar table and threaten the NPC? hmmm.... Colors for the links have been changed in the forum - thanks Mackie for the suggestion! chijb55 - that's a great idea! I love it! I will certainly add that to the list of suggested features. As of now, we are trying to tie up loose ends to get ready for a public release, so as hard as it is, we are limiting the addition of new features right now and shunting good ideas to a to-do list. However, once we get the initial version of the game out there, I anticipate we will take the to-do list and add them to an upgraded version of the game. So if that idea doesn't make it into the 1.0 version, it should get into a future one.

Sliding into orbit around Krakorum... I've slipped a number of cultural references into the game, most are nerdy or sci-fi, while a few have a personal connection to me, somewhat like an inside joke with myself. (wow...that sounded so pathetic...) Some of these references scattered throughout the game are pretty obvious, while others might linger unseen for a while before someone notices them. Looking at this cockpit image, you'll notice three very obvious stickers stuck to the cockpit (two along the bottom and one to the left-side wall). Where are they from? One should be easy to guess, the second much more difficult to identify, and the last will be VERY challenging to figure out as it references something personal to me, but it also does have a connection to the Sundog:Resurrection game. Who wants to take a guess at these stickers?

There's a Don't Panic sign at the bottom on the right - the other two are too hard to identify to me.

Got the "Don't Panic" sign. The other one along the bottom looks like it has a robot character from a SciFi cartoon, not sure of the names. The third alonng the left wall was out of my league. Thanks for the update, I'm really excited for the game!
