I stand corrected, obviously a newer model than the one shown in the ad on the official resurrection site, fresh off the production line. Can I assume that picture is of 'team resurrection'? Hehe Fun fact: On the website's first page, two of the photos used in our "advertisements" were taken by me. The desert image of Hell (edited slightly) was taken in Saqqara, Egypt when I was studying archeology in the middle east. Same with the photo of Jondd - that's actually a shot of Cairo, Egypt, on the outskirts. I thought it had the right mix of agricultural and architecture that might fit Jondd's agricultural capital setting. The General Industron is a public domain image of a NASA/JPL lab. On the CONTACT page, the advertisement for Tcana is a photo I took in the Italian Alps during summer, where the lower mountains are fairly warm and grassy. That is beyond cool.

ESHoric, I'm afraid that the people involved in the Beta can't share very much at all with you. However, I have some really good news - We're still accepting Beta testers! So, just head over to this link and read the NDA, follow the very simple instructions on the next page, and I'll give you access to download and play the Beta! :-)

Hotels to me seem like an ideal place to use for clandestine meetings - black market purchases, secret missions, etc. Would be a much better use than an emergency place to fall asleep <grin>.

Ok read the thread and up to date... I have a few questions, answer them if you can/want: #1- I see a counter un the top right for food, sleep, health. Can you hide them and have the kind of no-hub immersiveness than the original had? #2- Did you put stellar classification in the game? I seem to remember from the original page that you did, but I can't remember much about it. Found the answer#3- Are Nutrapacks still in the game? They where my favorite food. Found the answer#4- Will it support 3440x1440 (My current monitor ) Found the answer#5- Can we zoom the screen to make things bigger? Some outside maps I have glanced at seems to be very zoomed out. #6- Can we still run Control Nodes from Jondd to Glory and sell them for a profit? #7- Is cargo runs more lucrative than in the Atari version? (It was barely worth it with damage from pirates/fuel/time investment). #8- Do we have a map of the towns we've explored? or still like the original? Personally I would've loved a "Fog of War" but once explored, you can hit "M" and check map, maybe drop markers of have basic icons for places (maybe need to enter them first. You might not know what a Woremed McDonnalds look like afterall) #9- Will AutoSlews be added back in? Pretty sure they are based on what I've seen on the old page.- - - - - Future possibilities (unless they are done already, who knows) #10- Are there plans for ship switching? Like you can buy another ship, maybe after you completed the original scope of the game and own the SunDog. I could see an upgraded sundog with 2 turrets and 4 cargo bays... Or a more military Sundog with only one cargo slot, but more armor/shields/fuel capacity and weapons. Not all ships could have 6 bays, or use the same architecture for parts (beside the control node) #11- Contracts for other colonies? I'd love to create a colony on Iceball or something. Would sure create another new dimension of replay for this game. #12- Being able to edit game files easily (with notepad or something), maybe tweak a value here or there to make the game more suited to a certain style. I remember an old pirate game named seadog where I even created new random encounter map (sea battle during a hurricane) and it was funny. Or changing my favorite ships so they would be viable past their prime. #13- "Universe designer" as in make your own star, planets, towns... The thought of somehow being able to customize a game world and share it here and/or with friends brings a smile on my face. Oh well I'm dragging this out aren't I? I'll stop here then. Thanks for the remake, and see you around.

I didn't know where to best post but I wanted to say thanks to the folks who have made this possible. I was able to download and play through the beta and it is marvelous. It has the look and feel of the atari st version but with improved graphics and added content. This scratched an itch for some great gaming nostalgia I didn't realize I had. I suspect there is a bit of polishing to do but overall it works well and has the vast majority of the classic content. Kudos and I look forward to the next update.

It has the look and feel of the atari st version but with improved graphics and added content. Atari ST? Please tell me it is in b/w. Whew, I just checked the afterimages on my retina from 40 years ago. They are in color, so I must have played it on the Apple II. Seriously, though, looking forward to supporting the beta. If it ever comes out, I am going to buy it for sure. Just today I saw an answer on Quora that mentioned the remake. www.quora.com/Can-a-person-design-a-modern-video-game-on-their-own/answer/Chris-Nash-10Me: - Gasps.
- Goes to remake website.
- Registers for beta.
- Anxiously waits to see what happens next.
- Learns from forum that there is a secret password.
- Frantically searches forum for secret password.
- Does not find it.
- Tests the forum's Bulleted List feature instead.
- Remembers his tendency for ADD. Thinks he got it under control.
- Finds that this is the first version of BB where the Bulleted List works out of the box.
- Remembers that it might be ten years since he used BB.
- Feels old.
- Checks his ID, confirms that feeling.
- Remembering mortality, keeps fingers crossed that the game will actually be published.
- Feels happy and anxious at the same time.
- Before hitting POST, sees "The thread in which you are posting has no effects applied to it."
- Wonders what SF age he lives in where forum posts can apply status effects.
- Plays Cyberpunk 2077.
What a great game to remake. You go, team! Can we play Cyberpunk 2077 on the ship's console? Design idea: - Character starts game
- Pixelated "Bykerdunk 2077" logo comes up.
- Ship's software crashes and needs to be rebooted.
- Character says "Now THAT is a game remake true to its original".
- Posts on forum.
- Rereads Kailef's "What to do next" screen.
- Finds secret password in it.
- Swears. (Child friendly, obvs)
- Follows the instructions.

The above post wins the "most amusing message on the Sundog Forums" award, I think.

It was wonderful on the Atari 1040. Unfortunately, I gave up that machine and all the software many moons ago. For the time, the color resolution was top-notch.

Is this now a dead project? I loved this game back in the day but it's been 9 years waiting now. I'm 60. Will I see this before I die?

It's not dead! Granted development is quite slow, as our team is extremely small not paid a cent, and they've all got their day jobs and regular life that comes before the project. But, the beta is fully playable from start to finish! Feel free to sign up for the beta and get the download link, and you can be playing the game this weekend!
