Hi All, Apple IIc Sundog player. Mostly I remember trying to keep my ship together with almost all shunts. Fun, but not fun too

My biggest problem with shunts is they were so much more likely to fail than a "real" part. I am not 100% sure of the logic but they seemed to make other components fail more often, too...

Interesting, it does make sense they'd put stress on the other components. does anyone remember the original start? I thought I had to sell a bunch of the normal components for cash at the start of the game?

Normally I don't need to do that, the money in the bank gives me enough to repair my broken stuff and get started.

I used to run guns from the toughest little city (furthest jump out) back to the startup planets. Used to make 500 or more credits per gun. Selling them in bars.

Interesting, it does make sense they'd put stress on the other components. does anyone remember the original start? I thought I had to sell a bunch of the normal components for cash at the start of the game? Right, shunts are not as reliable and they do blow fast. (And blow explosively, I might add. I had fun making those graphics!) Wanna see something fun? Load a bay up with nothing but shunts (except the control nodes, of course) and get yourself attacked by pirates. Then watch the shunted bay and enjoy the fireworks! And regarding the parts, in the original game you only had a locker full of shunts - just like the current Resurrection game. However, I do remember dumping normal parts from bays I knew I would not need right away, like Tactical, Shields, and Guns, and selling them off for quick cash. The logic behind that was I could normally complete the first Phase or two at Banville without the need for importing stocks from another planet. By the time I needed to import stocks through pirate-infested space, I would be making some cash (or collecting it from Uniteller accounts in other systems) to repair those bays.
