When I was 14, my family bought an Apple IIc. I spent every free moment I had on that machine (Infocom games, Wizardry, etc.). I remember going to a computer store in the local mall hoping for a cool new game, and came upon SunDog. I knew nothing about the game, but bought it after examining the box.
10 minutes ago, I was playing Mass Effect 2. As I played, I wondered if there was a good space-trading game available. I dimly recalled my first space-trading game, what was it called? MoonDog? Is there anything like that made in the last ten years? I googled "space trading games" and quickly learned it was SunDog, not MooonDog, that it was still listed in top-20 lists for the genre, and that there had been a revision in the works for 10 years, and that ... WHAT? The beta is available to play right now!
I still remember how it felt to get to know SunDog, and though I'm sure I cannot recreate my 14-year-old sense of wonder, I am amazed at my good luck to find this beta available just when I went looking for it.
I'll go ahead and download it now!
